Venue: Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College

As a student, every experience in the B.Ed. program is a stepping stone toward becoming an effective educator. Criticism Day 2 was one such valuable experience that allowed me to observe, analyze, and reflect on various teaching methods and pedagogical strategies.

Observing and Learning

Throughout the day, we witnessed diverse teaching styles and methodologies. Each session provided a unique perspective on classroom management, instructional techniques, and student engagement. Observing my peers, I realized that teaching is not just about delivering content—it is about interaction, reinforcement, and adapting to the needs of students.

Constructive Criticism: A Tool for Growth

One of the highlights of the day was the feedback session. Evaluators, mentors, and peers provided constructive criticism, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. This feedback was invaluable in shaping our teaching skills. It made me reflect on my own teaching methods and consider new approaches to enhance student learning.

A Step Closer to Becoming an Educator

By the end of the day, I felt a sense of accomplishment. Criticism Day 2 was not just an assessment; it was a learning experience that encouraged self-improvement. It reinforced the importance of patience, clarity, and innovation in teaching.

As I move forward in my teaching journey, I carry with me the lessons learned on this day. Teaching is a continuous process of learning, and every critique is an opportunity to grow.

Criticism Day at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College was a unique and enriching experience, where I had the opportunity to step into both the roles of a teacher and a student. This dual perspective allowed me to appreciate the teaching-learning process from both ends, making the day a valuable milestone in my journey as a teacher-in-training.

Standing in front of my peers and evaluators as a teacher was both exciting and nerve-wracking. I had carefully planned my lesson, ensuring that my explanations were clear, engaging, and well-structured. As I delivered the lesson, I focused on classroom management, student engagement, and effective questioning techniques. The feedback from my peers and evaluators was constructive, helping me identify both my strengths and areas for improvement.

The Student's Perspective

Being a student in my peers’ classes was an equally insightful experience. Observing different teaching styles, lesson structures, and interaction methods provided me with new ideas and strategies to incorporate into my own teaching. I learned the importance of clarity, reinforcement, and adapting to students' responses in real time.

Key Takeaways

Receiving constructive criticism helped me refine my teaching skills.

Observing my peers’ sessions inspired me to adopt new techniques.

Balancing both roles gave me a well-rounded perspective on teaching.

Criticism Day was not just about evaluation—it was a day of learning, growth, and mutual support. Every critique was a stepping stone toward becoming a better educator, and I look forward to applying these lessons in my future classrooms.
