Learning from Experience: A Reflection on the Demonstration Class

Date: 24th February 2025

Venue: Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College

As aspiring educators, we are constantly learning—not just from textbooks but from real-life classroom experiences. One of the most enriching experiences during our B.Ed. journey is observing seasoned teachers in action. On 24th February 2025, we had the privilege of attending a demonstration class conducted by our seniors—Ansu Alexander, Anjumol R, and Akhila Surendran.

A Day of Insightful Learning

The session began at 10:00 AM, with all of us eager to observe and absorb new teaching techniques. The demonstration was more than just a lecture; it was an interactive and engaging experience that provided a glimpse into the real-world dynamics of teaching.

Key Takeaways

1. Lesson Planning Matters – The sessions highlighted the importance of well-structured lesson plans. Each topic was presented systematically, ensuring smooth content flow.

2. Engagement is Key – The way the seniors involved students in discussions and activities reinforced the idea that learning should be interactive, not passive.

3. Adaptability in Teaching – We observed how they modified their teaching approaches based on students’ reactions, a crucial skill for any educator.

4. Confidence and Presence – Teaching is not just about knowledge but also about how confidently it is delivered. Their strong presence in the classroom made learning more effective.

Reflections and Future Applications

Observing the demonstration class was a reminder that teaching is both an art and a science. The experience motivated me to reflect on my own teaching style and consider how I can implement similar strategies in my future lessons.

By the end of the session, I walked away with a clearer understanding of what makes a great teacher—not just subject expertise, but also the ability to connect with students, adapt teaching methods, and maintain a positive learning environment.

This demonstration class was not just a learning experience but a source of inspiration. As we continue our journey in the field of education, we carry forward these valuable lessons, striving to become educators who can truly make an impact.
